How to Get Rich - Make a List

I believe the major reason people are unable to achieve wealth is not their fear of failure, but the fear of success. Assuming you are mentally ready to overcome your fear of success, and you accept the fact that it is acceptable to be wealthy, then you need to understand there are specific realities to developing wealth.

Since everyone has a different perception of what being wealthy is, you need to first decide on your goal. Is your goal to be a millionaire, a multi-millionaire, or to simply make a six figure income? Regardless of where you are starting from, the process for wealth creation is the same.

The first thing to realize is it is next to impossible to become wealthy working for a pay check only. For example, assume you earn a $100,000 a year salary, a very good wage. If you didn't even have to spend one penny, it would take you 10 years to become a millionaire. Now, being more realistic, assume you are able to put away 10% to 20% of that $100,000 a year, and the timeframe and reality to earn a million dollars become even more unreachable. Even worse, if you don't make six figures, or are unable to spare 10% of your income.

The key to developing wealth is to earn money in a manner that is not related to an hourly wage. Unless you are a professional athlete, you will likely never become wealthy working for just a pay check. People are being falsely educated to believe that you should go to college, find a good job after graduation and you will be able to live a great lifestyle. You may be comfortable, but it is unlikely you will be wealthy from earning a pay check. Obtaining a college education is very beneficial, but the key is to expand that education to assist you in becoming wealthy.

There are numerous methods to become wealthy. Many of the most popular are to own your own business, to work sales on commission, to own an internet business that can operate 24/7, real estate, network marketing, stocks, and the list goes on and on. The key is to not become too diversified, but to become an "expert" in the path you choose and to replicate a successful method over and over again, expanding the "scale" of the success as you gain knowledge and develop your system.

Think about what you are passionate about, or are knowledgeable in. Think of several ways you could transfer that knowledge or passion to the greatest number of people. Take a moment this evening, on your way home from work, and write down as many things as you can that you are passionate about and are knowledgeable in. There are no wrong answers, just develop a list of items you want to pursue.
